Creature Comforts

Freaky finds for the family.

For your infant, the Zombie Devil Duckie:

Qua-Ack !

For bigger kids, A Remote Control Zombie, seen here fighting his arch nemesis, the remote control empty pants:

{39 sec}

For adults that are that kind of 'adult'...

Roxxy the Sex Robot:
"Hey there (pause) Stud"
"Do you like Porsches?" (was that 'porches'?)
"Are you ready to give it to me (pause) Stud?"
"Ah (roboticly) thats nice"
"You have a nice weiner." (and so on....)
{5 min} As for me, I have no words re: this zombie date...

Finally, for the oldsters, a Robot Nurse...
...planned for euthanasia?

{2 min}

At least one of the above seems montrous to me.

So this post is part of ThemeThursdays 'Monster' day.

Hobbling Along

Still an uphill trek...

Saw this vid and thought 'Hobbit already?.. Fun!'

{1 min}
Its good, but turns out its a fan-made 'trailer'.

As for the real movie?...

The good news for Hobbit fans:

Filming starts this winter, since MGM & Warner Bros. finally gave the go ahead for work on 'The Hobbit' to resume.

To recap, the movie has been officially greenlit, and Peter Jackson is definitely signed on to direct. Plus many of the sets have already been constructed, and the scripts are said to be near completion, with over $30 million spent so far on this epic.

The bad news:

The studios don't have all the ca$h they need.
(And union disputes may add more delay$)

They've only cast half the roles so far.

It will be in two parts

The really bad news:
The current projected release...

'The Hobbit 1' arrives in theaters Dec 2012
'The Hobbit 2' comes a year later, Dec 2013.

So, in the meanwhile, here's another fan-made promo:

Agitating Aquatic Animals

Water Wasters vs Fearful Fish

This is Yan Lu's new 'water conservation' invention. It fools aqua-wasters by making it appear that the goldfish's water is being drained to wash your hands. Its water is actually pumped to a hidden reservoir.

Yes, its an interesting trick, but I'm sure it freaks the fish out to have its life support pumped half-away every time a human turns up.

Or how about the life of these Asian fish:

{2 min} *seen in market in Kowloon

Can goldfish die of stress?

But at least Goldie's safer than these crabs:

{90 sec}

Yes, live crabs in a vending machine.
This gizmo is in a subway station in Shanghai. Do they pocket a live crab or two before boarding the train? And what's in those bottles at the bottom? Sauce?, or beer, or maybe an aquatic anesthetic?

I can just see the headline:

Cool Wave Pool

see the 'S' ?

Smart water trick makes shapes with waves.

Now they've rigged it in a regular pool, see video:

via Geekologie:
{2 min - forms a heart, star, then go to big pool}

'AMOEBA' (Advanced Multiple Organized Experimental Basin), is a water tank created by Mitsui that is able form images, and 'volcanos', with waves.

Could make playing word games at a pool party fun.

Suppose it would work in a tank of mojitos?

Panic! At The Party

Just thought I'd link to a few music videos to get us all in the mood for Halloween. So, without further ado...

''Its Almost Halloween''

(by 'Panic! At The Disco'...)
{3 min}

followed by their spooky hit song from

"Nightmare Before Christmas"

{3 min} *now we finally know who wrote it :) lyrics below

'This Is Halloween' by P!ATD

Boys and girls of every age
Wouldn't you like to see something strange?
Come with us and you will see
This, our town of Halloween

This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Pumpkins scream in the dead of night
This is Halloween, everybody make a scene
Trick or treat till the neighbors gonna die of fright
It's our town, everybody scream
In this town of Halloween

I am the one hiding under your bed
Teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red
I am the one hiding under your stairs
Fingers like snakes and spiders in my hair

This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!

In this town we call home
Everyone hail to the pumpkin song
In this town, don't we love it now?
Everybody's waiting for the next surprise

Round that corner, man hiding in the trash can
Something's waiting now to pounce, and how you'll...

Scream! This is Halloween
Red 'n' black, slimy green
Aren't you scared?

Well, that's just fine
Say it once, say it twice
Take a chance and roll the dice
Ride with the moon in the dead of night

Everybody scream, everybody scream
In our town of Halloween!

I am the clown with the tear-away face
Here in a flash and gone without a trace
I am the "who" when you call, "Who's there?"
I am the wind blowing through your hair
I am the shadow on the moon at night
Filling your dreams to the brim with fright

This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!
Halloween! Halloween!

Tender lumplings everywhere
Life's no fun without a good scare
That's our job, but we're not mean
In our town of Halloween

In this town
Don't we love it now?
Everyone's waiting for the next surprise

Skeleton Jack might catch you in the back
And scream like a banshee
Make you jump out of your skin
This is Halloween, everybody scream
Wont' ya please make way for a very special guy

Our man jack is King of the Pumpkin patch
Everyone hail to the Pumpkin King now

This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!

In this town we call home
Everyone hail to the pumpkin song

La la-la la [Repeat]

Keep tappin' those pointy-toed shoes!

;-)

Test Your Awareness

'Why?'... ...'Why kNot?' ...
{68 sec}

Watch at least half of the video.
... I'll wait. ;-)

That was fun, wasn't it?

Its part of a things you should know about us humans list, being compiled by a psychologist. I think we recognize this 'inattention blindness'; its just a more clinical way of reminding us that 'we don't always see what's right before us'.

Even when told to pay attention,
...I still missed a moon-bear!

How embarrassing.

But would I notice this?:

*her 2nd ex. - you'll understand it in the first minute:
{4 min}

'Our brains actually process very little of what comes in through the eyes.' No kidding - 75% of them didn't notice the switch! And I can't honestly say whether I would or not.

So, since we mentally abbreviate these 'known' things... its no wonder the courts would rather have security cam videos versus eye witnesses.

Because things are knot always what they seem to be.
Perhaps like this 'knot' day post, for ThemeThursday.

Flippin' Moron

Jeff Lewis smiles as his drunk client gropes Jenni (at 1:24) and slaps Trace in the face (at :07). That's so creepy.
clip from last night's episode (Oct 5th)
{2 min, after a 15_sec ad }

Unbelievable. Jeff protests his client Chuck's use of profanity, yet just sat by while Chuck abused Jeff's own assistants, Jenni & Trace.

And his 'damage control' afterward? Too little, too late, his non-actions spoke louder than words. Will this kill his 'Flipping Out' show?

And Bravo TV showed it all on-air. Classy.

* note to Jenni & Trace:
I hope you two call that scene EVIDENCE...

Life As We Know It

art by j2-burkLast night I got to attend an 'Advance Screening' of this new Katherine Heigl movie.
I liked her in "27 Dresses", so I was happy to go. ('Yes', my ticket was free, but I did ante up for pretzels, so you know I'll be totally fair.)

{2:30}
First, a couple of 'Hollywood' opinions:

Variety gave it a nod: '"Life As We Know It" delivers enough "aww" moments (coupled with the occasional laugh) to deliver its money's worth' ...as a decent rom-com.

Heigl says: "I’m really proud of this movie. It’s probably my favorite film I’ve done to date,” she explained. “It’s just the perfect combination of romance and comedy and heart…"

My opinion? Lets face it, once you've seen the preview, you know what you're getting into, so you can't exactly complain that you were blind-sided by the plot. As my companion said, its a perfect 'airplane movie', bleep out the two '$h!+'s and its ready to go. Some chuckles w/o much stress, plus a cuddly set of triplets(!) playing the baby.

Verdict: 'Hey, its a cute movie.'

'doh' !

PG-13 / 112 min / opens Friday

FYI: For those who prefer unique documentaries,
here's one that Katherine Heigl appeared in:

{2 min} *Haven't seen it myself - will check Netflix.

Stirring Up Trouble

Before Halloween comes to brew,
Three things you might like to do:

witchy coloring page First, easy decorations.

Printer on? Right-click the witch
and select Print-Target. 'Voila', out
comes her full-page image to colour.
(Go here for gobs more.)

Second, use Colonial-era clues (below) to determine...
...Are You A Witch?:

Do dogs fed rye cake (made w/pee!) bite you?
Yes?
Keep running - because you're a witch.

Check your weight against a stack of bibles.
Did they balance? No?... You're a witch.

Any moles, birthmarks, scars, or extra nips?
Oops. May be Devil tats - Could be a witch.

Talk to yourself much? 'Yes'?... Uh oh.
Sarah G, was damned b/c she was muttering...
Her accusers just knew she was casting spells.

Got pets? Summoning animals is also a Demon-skill,
so they'd better NOT come when called. Do they?..

(Hey, its always better to know, right?)

Third,

There's a blog party at
'A Fanciful Twist',
to 'witch' we're all invited!

30 days til Hallows Eve!
