Draft Punk

Remember this iPod ad?

{30 sec - 'Technologic'}

The song was unique, so I looked for the band.
Too bad I mis-read their name as 'Draft Punk'.

Oops.

Didn't re-find - Daft Punk - again for ages.

Not til I saw their distinctly different video,
'Something About Us'. (below)

note: The light show is on their helmets !

{3 min}

Like those people that mis-hear song lyrics, I just added an extra letter to the actual band name. But it made me feel better to find out (via Google) that I wasn't the only one - still over 20,000 hits if you search for 'Draft Punk' - ha!

But I just can't figure out why these two French guys would not only sing in English, but they also, after a bad review where an English critic called their music, "a bunch of daft punk", name their band that. In English.

Just a bit odd.

As odd as their whole LED-helmets thing.

Lady Gaga Garbage

Lady Gaga
Its Art. Its Junk. (its actually both)

* Notice the poker chips and Kermit parts?...

Artist Jason Mecier uses the personal junk of celebrities and turns it into unique portraits. Over the past 10 years the stars themselves have sent their used belongings to him to create 3D collages.

Including: Heidi Fleiss' moldy slippers, Phyllis Diller's anti-itch
cream, Kathy Najimy's
Dexatrim, Ricki Lake's tampon (ew!), two of Tori Spelling's vibrators (double-ew!), and a letter Paris Hilton
sent him from prison.

Also: Pam Anderson, Bjork, Sharon Stone, Florence Henderson, RuPaul, Pink, the Go-Go’s, the B52's, etc... See more in the video:

93 + 1929 = Sunday Breakfast

mine, hot from oven
Clara, 93, cooks brunch from her Depression-era childhood, to celebrate ThemeThursday.

hint:

- Gruel ?.... 'No'
- Coffee ?... 'Yes'

{video}

"First thing we're going to make is sugar cookies"

('What?'...)

Not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't that.

Had to try them, so I made a one-third batch:
1 large egg (lightly beaten)
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour
pinch of salt

Rolled out using more flour.
Then cut into turd-like shapes
- and put on ungreased pan.
350' F oven, for ~ 16 min
Verdict: 'Okay' - they did all disappear by 6pm.
(would be better with vanilla +/ spices)

Had to lol, tho. Coffee & two kinds of sugar cookies.
Nutritionist's nightmare, but 'hey' Clara's still here!

warning - The longer you let them sit around however, the more they become Depression-era tooth-breakers.

so, 'Flapper Biscotti', anyone?

p.s.
notice (at 2:57) there's a donut bag on her counter!

So those tiny colorful imps also have anti-gravity?

Paging Mr. Cameron: We has a plot for Avatar II.

*just enuf time to leave you three quick 'St. Pat' links:

(1) FAMILY FUN
In 2009 a mom put neon prints (pic above) thru her kitchen then surprised her kids w/ green food. Some comments she got, last one's a lol idea:

Ashlee- did this one year at a daycare I worked at. It really freaked out the kids and they cried for a good half hour!

Mercedes- we set our shoes out and They leave us small goodies. Usually green. :) Also our room would have been disorganized by the leprechauns.

Bren Yule- spaghetti noodles with green food coloring! Green alfredo sauce, and Green Choc chip cookies with green sprinkles!

Yarni Gras!- put a green food coloring tablet between the faucet spout and washer ...turned on the kitchen sink, the water came out green.

(2) RECIPE
From the Food Librarian, no less:
click to go - btw, can we add alcohol?
Her recipe? (click pic) Jello blended w/ ice cream.
No idea how it tastes, but it certainly looks... green.

(3) HISTORY:
How snakes left Ireland. (beware: not happily)
