Laurel Holloman, A-list!

You can sit in the front rows to see her (and everyone else) at Bravo's A-list award show if you:
Are free on April 5th, 2009*
Can get to The Orpheum in L.A., Calif
Are over 18 years old
Own a formal outfit (list of LA thrift stores)
Agree -not- to bring a camera
Willing to sign up to be a 'seatfiller'
A 'seatfiller' is someone who sits in the seats of celebrities at televised events, while the celebrity is in the loo or out having a smoke. You can be that person if you meet the above requirements and go to LA's SeatFillers.com to sign up (bottom half of page) by April 1st. Good Luck!

* The show airs on the 15th, but they film it April 5th, apparently.

p.s... Can't make it to Los Angeles? Me neither.
But at least we can vote for her elevator scene (often)!

Swan Song

'Shane', 'Tina', & 'Alice', in happier season5 times The finale wasn't music to anyone's ears, unfortunately.
"L" Is for Lousy - The series finale of The L Word set lesbianism and the art of storytelling back about fifty years. It couldn't have dribbled to a more feeble, unfulfilling letdown ...
James Wolcott, of Vanity Fair

That was a typical review. How sad. No show deserves to die like that. Its the one time they should have called Weho's seemingly only lawyer Joyce Wishnia, and of course they didn't. Bet they could've gotten a group rate, too.

L = Last Items

The last show of TLW is tonight, and yet I'm actually more interested in hearing the details of yesterday's auction of the last items off the set. Isn't that sad (and odd) that after five years of watching this show I'm still not invested in the finale?. Granted I'm a big spoiler ho, so I'm already annoyed that the producer...
*unspoiled? don't read the tiny print*
... refused to actually wrap up the final storylines! ... MoronIC, yes?

click to enlarge So, while waiting for the auction results, I did a 'Wordle' by taking a TWoP page, and letting the program form the words into a label-cloud. Naturally B&T are big - popular words are the largest - but this (click image on left) shape was unusual. The smaller ones randomly clustered around Bette, leaving Tina an island? - how odd.

You'd think one of Bette's army of minions programmed it.
(other samples on other topics looked nothing like this)

Out of Step

Mediocre editing, yet another bugaboo of TLW.
If you saw Ep 607 you know what I mean...

That's why its interesting to see unpaid fans remix the scenes that IC's clumsy yet paid editors & director have chopped apart. Here a fan restored some flow to a dance sequence that had been roughly intercut with 2 other storylines in the aired version of the ep.

Makes quite a difference. Too bad the amateur editors employed by TLW didn't know the golden rule of editing video - if your audience has never seen it before, don't cut away. Put another way, if its something unique, you need to let your audience have a chance to savor it. If it was a cola ad? - feel free to do as many cuts as you like, but the only choreographed dances in TLW deserved better.

Dead Ahead

How I think Season Six really happened:

Once upon a time, back in June 2008...

Voila! - TLW turns into an 8-part mystery tour.

But lets not dwell on that. Having seen the first seven episodes, we're all afraid of what will happen next, but instead of worrying, please enjoy a fun Alice-Jenny scene - Jenny begs for a kiss!

WWJennyD

So, Season 6 = WWJD = 'Who Wants Jenny Dead'.

And now that the final 2 eps are upon us, the brains at Sho finally decide to give us a full-length ep... opposite the Oscars!?
Ooo, smart move there.
*
'Showtime', think its time to buy a clue?

Speaking of buying things, 606 was an expensive episode for props.

The Orbitbaby buggy that T&B gave Max? $900 US.

*We all know they'll get it back.
And it won't be empty.

Meanwhile that bottle of champagne that Kelly popped?
She must really have the hots for B, since that stuff starts at $150 US, but if you order the individualized vintage? Then Perrier-Jouet can cost $6,000 per bottle.

And speaking of clues:

<-- This promo is Showtime's great marketing campaign for S6. Asking bloggers to put this logo on their site to promote TLW. Again, Sho execs, are you really shocked that HBO rules?

Snootful

sorry, lousy screencap... :-/ ...But you get the idea
EB puts her best snoot forward...

Loved the group scenes in the 605 ep, but I found the Elizabeth Berkley moments quite distracting - she had a snout-like look about her, somehow, whilst her character 'Kelly' twas giddy from having a snootful I suppose.

Thus I was inspired to enter 'snoot Elizabeth Berkley' into Google to see what I got and 'voila', first up was this link to a slightly gay website with a video of an errant manatee!?

Eureka, oddity solved; EB must be channeling crazyJenny!

Pretty Ugly

Warning!
Boring ep. last night = shallow review to-day!

Bette pic credit to reise at automatic straddle!
puppy's hair! puppies!

Not that she isn't pretty, but sorry, Bette's hair done like that always reminds me of *this* ===>

Can't believe out of all the outfits they use on TLW, CynthiaS the costumer, 'lost' so many nice ones, yet managed to save B&T's ugliest nightwear for ep 604? Sheesh.

eta:

Cybill Shepherd is doing a guest appearance on "Criminal Minds" (Wed, ~8 pm, CBS), in which she drives the usually stoic investigators nuts with her constant reminders that she once dated Elvis Presley... never watch that show but it might be fun.

Puffy Shirt

WhatNotToWearBette What not to wear...
It appears that the clothing budget for S6 has got them cutting up old drapes to make puffy shirts and ill-fitting pants. I suppose we should just be grateful they still have the jewelry sponsor...

Thanks and credit to Dorothy for the 603 pic link.

Light Loafers

'L' stands for light feet, apparently

Someone with cabin fever took a 2 second clip of dancing (from last week's promo) and turned it into a 1/2 minute video to an entirely different song!

Look Away

S6 tag line: Who killed Jenny. Can you say 'artificial drama'?
In a suspicious death, every 'suspect' is questioned alone...

Match this fact up with those recent cast interviews - five actresses mentioned their final day, and none finished up simultaneously with another main cast member.

'Jenny' finished first. Then 'Alice', & 'Tina' finished separately, on the same day. And 'Helena' did her last scene on the last day, with no other main cast member present, just before 'Bette' did the very last filmed scene, again without any other cast member. Hm.

Wank: So that's how TLW ends - each main character will be seen separately, in a police interrogation room, describing her relationship to the deceased! (Gee thanks, IC)

And will TLW's last ep then be 'Lock Away'?...

No Words

S6's wordless promo had a Shane/Niki teaser,

image credit to Tibette.com plus a few images of this B&T living room romp.

But considering all the other conflicting information we've had about this upcoming season - wouldn't it have been kinder to include just a few snippets of dialogue?!

RePosed

TLW's new S6 poster needed to be re-posed...

Just 'No' to 'Shenny'. Not that 'Shelena' is perfect, but we did have that kiss-outside-the-Planet anvil for them. Also gone is Kit-in-a-coma, and TAlice because I belive their relationship won't survive to the spin-off. Should I add them back in... or add someone else? (Evil Adele with her black smokes, perhaps?)

Lights! - Camera! - Sirens?

- TLW s6 SPOILER WARNING! -
don't read below if you're unspoiled
2200 block of Ontario St TLW's production team had this 2200 block of Ontario St. (Vancouver, BC) cordoned off for a night shoot. It was described as a 'crime scene', complete with police cars, an ambulance and a fire truck. This was in the first week of October, so it will be part of Season 6's finale! So S6 gets a funeral... but whose?

CuteKitty guessed the victim could be Tasha the cop. Good guess, since Alice's upcoming spin-off will probably require her to be 'available'. But those buildings on that block look like little houses in the overhead photos... so could this be Bette's house next to Jenny's rental?

Slightly Spoiled

*Yes, I modified the photo to fit... my view of the show

Let us recap the S6 spoilers so far:

Kit will have that Prison Break guy swooning in drag.
Molly, Phyllis, and Jodi will appear in two eps each.
Eliz Berkley (boo!) and Alex Hedison (yeah!) will appear.
Papi returns from limbo, Lenore (Alice's Mom) does not.

Plus an 'online spin-off' starring an unknown cast mem?
Color me underwhelmed...

Hola! Papi?

Roving Papi returns - heart, keys, & churro in hand ;-)

*SPOILER!* Papi part deux; JG is back for Ep 601.
"...only saw the outside filming. Papi is on the 2nd floor balcony, looking down at Tasha and Alice. Alice says something like 'where have you been?' And Papi replies, 'right here'. Tasha says, "keys" and Papi throws them down to her. Alice asks if 'she can come in too'and Papi shrugs and says 'ok'..."
Now, isn't that interesting - Papi disappears for an entire season and returns just like that? So what dramatic reason brings Tasha back to see her 'best friend' finally - any guesses?

*For you folks pining for a S6 wedding, cheer up - JG might be returning for two purposes; rem she's also a limo driver...

Thanks for posting the tidbit, braindrain!
* her original TWoP 'Papi' spoiler is here.

Hang onto your hats...

TLW fans may be in for a bump-y S6 ride yet.

Laurel Holloman
(pictured left)

TLW's 'Tina', as she appeared at this week's 'Glaad' awards.

Looks like the Beals rumor could be true about Ms. Holloman.
That, or LH really needs a new stylist.

I can hear it now,
Tina's first words in S6:
''It just... popped.''

Steal this Season

Its too bad that Showtime only gave TLW eight more episodes. I'm hoping that the petition to make it a 'full' twelve episode season does some good. Did they use 'writers strike' as an excuse for the missing episodes? Or was it just marked off as the 'economy's fault? (Never did read the news article about it.)

ThumbsUp
At any rate, I'm hoping TLW will go out with a bang
... or two.

Episode ideas for Season 6:

Lamborghini - Helena is back - lets roll, baby! *Go find v1. Alice!
Lear Jet - Helena is back, part 2: time to join the My-L-High club.
Lucid Dreams - Night falls in Weho, especially the 'Ho' part...
Look Who's Back - Welcome back, Carmen, Dana, Dylan & Lara.
Limbo - Jodi returns to teach everyone her new pole dance skills.
Little John - SheBar reopens as WeeBar, Kit's uppity new daycare.
L Ward - Everyone knew Jenny would end up back there someday.
Love - 'Wedding' (Bette-r this than pregnant) Shane presides.
Louisiana - TiBette honeymoon in bikinis near New Orleans. But...
Looters - They run and hide as thieves steal -all- their clothes!
Lost - B&T wander the bayous, stop often for comforting.
Leftovers - TPTB finally give in; we get to see all deleted scenes!

Feel free to email these ideas to Vancouver...
