Our moon never seems to change...
Its fissures, craters and other formations look permanent, frozen except for a few small indents here and there.



We know the moon didn't always appear like this...
And now, thanks to NASA, we get to watch its history:

Nonverbal clues, anyone?...

Chimpanzees can't talk, but they can still fib. Researchers found that chimps can divert other chimps, and thus keep them from realizing that the first chimp is hiding (and not sharing) a banana.

We humans are so much smarter, we should be able to tell when others are trying to deceive us, right? Just to be sure, here are two short videos:

Frozen In Time

* 'OMG, them waves done froz!'...




*Did you run into this 'flash-frozen wave!' hoax too?

Here's the scoop:

Those pictures actually originate from Tony (an Antarctic scientist)'s photo gallery. His 'Dome C' collection clearly calls these ice formations 'bergs', not 'flash-frozen waves'.

Why anyone started that rumor... who knows?

Just A Bit Batty

Its actually feeding time for rescued baby bats.

Over 100 ailing baby fruit bats were found scratching for survival on a Gold Coast forest floor in Australia. The bats left their perches to feed and were then unable to fly back up.

So the 'pups' are being bottle fed and will be kept hanging on clothes lines until they are ready to fly again in about four weeks.

Those little guys look very cute, but
it'll be a bit before they're 'off-line'...

Lucky folks in Beijing can dig to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
New Zealand is opposite Spain, and Ecuador -> Indonesia.
But in most places, if you dig you'd better do it in scuba.

Cool Wave Pool

Smart water trick makes shapes with waves.

Could make playing word games at a pool party fun.

Suppose it would work in a tank of mojitos?

That was fun, wasn't it?

Its part of a things you should know about us humans list, being compiled by a psychologist. I think we recognize this 'inattention blindness'; its just a more clinical way of reminding us that 'we don't always see what's right before us'.

Even when told to pay attention,
...I still missed a moon-bear!

How embarrassing.

But would I notice this?:

'Our brains actually process very little of what comes in through the eyes.' No kidding - 75% of them didn't notice the switch! And I can't honestly say whether I would or not.

So, since we mentally abbreviate these 'known' things... its no wonder the courts would rather have security cam videos versus eye witnesses.

Because things are knot always what they seem to be.
