Ice Cream Sandwich

The classic, and edible, types:

Homemade, but sadly not by me...
Cheesecake ice cream, plus caramel !
cheesecake & caramel

Storebought...
This chocolate-chocolate one is a winner.

versus the newest (non-edible) type:

why 'ice cream sandwich' ?

Google's new OS, codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich.
(not quite sure why...)

The new features tempt me; they seem quite jazzy:
- visual voicemail
- incognito mode
- panorama camera
- time lapse images
- photo editor
- beam data transfer
- more wireless access
- plus 'Peoples' & other apps
VERDICT:
Cool new product.
And lets hope it will be unlike my other OS's and my other ice cream sandwiches, and won't ever 'freeze up'. :)

Zoom Zoom Zoom

Electric unicycle with a stabilizer !

Electric Unicycle !

SoloWheel is balanced by a gyroscope, and its supposed to be easy to ride, like a Segway. I love riding on a Segway, and this works the same way - Solowheel accelerates when you lean forward and slows down when you lean back:

{25 sec}

Going downhill the battery recharges, so you can go up to 12 mph, and get more than two hours on a charge.

I have e-unicycle envy... I want one.

Anyone have a spare $1800 I can borrow?

Fresh Take on Old Spice

I have a confession.
I mute all TV ads, even for shows & products that I like.

But rules were made to be broken, and
for these Old Spice ads I made an exception:

*first 12 secs appear normal...
{30 sec}

Quick visual tricks and nonsense? = worth viewing.

Now here's
'Behind the Scenes' as they film a new one

... all in *one* take:
(in the first minute)

{3 min}

If they go to that much trouble, I'll pay attention.
Even if I have no idea what that 'spice' smells like.

Now, a non-Spice, but still fun: NY Fest winner, 40 sec

All for fun, & TT's Spice day.

Agitating Aquatic Animals

Water Wasters vs Fearful Fish

This is Yan Lu's new 'water conservation' invention. It fools aqua-wasters by making it appear that the goldfish's water is being drained to wash your hands. Its water is actually pumped to a hidden reservoir.

Yes, its an interesting trick, but I'm sure it freaks the fish out to have its life support pumped half-away every time a human turns up.

Or how about the life of these Asian fish:

{2 min} *seen in market in Kowloon

Can goldfish die of stress?

But at least Goldie's safer than these crabs:

{90 sec}

Yes, live crabs in a vending machine.
This gizmo is in a subway station in Shanghai. Do they pocket a live crab or two before boarding the train? And what's in those bottles at the bottom? Sauce?, or beer, or maybe an aquatic anesthetic?

I can just see the headline:

Cool Wave Pool

see the 'S' ?

Smart water trick makes shapes with waves.

Now they've rigged it in a regular pool, see video:

'AMOEBA' (Advanced Multiple Organized Experimental Basin), is a water tank created by Mitsui that is able form images, and 'volcanos', with waves.

Could make playing word games at a pool party fun.

Suppose it would work in a tank of mojitos?

Music To Our Urls

click to go there
Is your blog harmonious?...

Find out by going to the quirky site above, 'CodeOrgan'.
(new window)

Enter any url, and it will pop out a tune based on the highs and lows of the html code. This is judged by little pixies and gremlins in DLKW's own program, I assume.

My blog turned out to be a dirge. So I'm intrigued to find out if any of yours produce an awesome anthem, and out-tune the rest of us.

p.s. Once you get your tune, the site lets you send your result to facebook, or tweet it to your pals... or your enemies. Make haste!

To My Delight He Came

early phone sex

Mabel & hubby Alexander Graham Bell
(ha - inventor of the phone married MaBel :)

My post-title comes from Bell's famous notebook ( actual page) where he talks about Watson and the first telephone call. As handy as that invention is, we're not talking about that part right now.

Instead, a Theme Thursday Bell quote:
'Don't keep forever on the public road, going only where others have gone, and following one after the other like sheep. Leave the beaten track occasionally...'

He took his own advice and began inventing kites.

And some were made of silk, no less

Bell's adage means to me:

There are always new things to try.
So we'll never be bored.

Amen to that.

Mirror, Mirror, on the desk

bunny on a MIR:ROR
Now my computer will get no rest.

Sounds great - just wave your umbrella at the MIR:ROR disc and 'voila' it tells you if you really need it that day. Your kid waves his keys at it as he walks in the door, and you get an email that he's home safe.

{4 min}

But then you get to this part...

'Your friends can send messages to any of your objects'

...'What??'...

So my BFF can IM to my Mr. Coffee: 'Decaf Only!'?
And my SO can text the DVR to tivo 'Jersey Shore'?!

Hm. 'Brave New World', my @ss. I think I'll live without any input from know-it-all appliances that are busy chatting up my pals, thanks. ;-)

nubile Brezhnev

Wait, come back! - No funky history lesson, honest.
And no pics of that Ruskie as a young man either, because, 'Ew'.

The image above is just a screen-cap of the oddest captcha (word verification) that I ran into this week.

But since nowadays, it seems like the chosen words are more closely linked to the content of what I'm viewing - Where did this one come from?

I assure you I wasn't browsing bloomin' bushy-browed Bolsheviks.

I was actually looking at blogs w/ clips of quirky pets.

So unless a lot of people named their pups, or maybe their platypii, after past Soviet leaders, I'm stumped. Anyone?

p.s.

Isn't there a site that collects strange captchas?...

Hm. No. Not even if said pet had giant eyebrows.

Imagine yelling 'Yasser! or Brezhie! out the front door...

* of course, they won't come... they're dead

info credit, Wikipedia and Wiktionary, thanks!

Twoddlers Twitter

TweedleDum and TweedleDee
can go high Twech

{20 sec}

Yes, you heard that right, a Belgian university group set up a toddler toy so every touch on its board sends a 'tweet' to the web. Are the Belgian taxpayers proud, or what?

Love that the newsies decided that Jr's tweets were:
'I miss you'...
....'I wanna play'...
...'I'm having a tantrum !'

A Truly Hot Pad

...but nothing to do with cooking.

click to go there
(*click* for their site)

I love wireless recharging - no plugs.

You get a matching 'skin' (from Wildcharge) and set your phones/pdas down when they need more juice. That's it, no need to find a cord for any of them because it holds multiple pdas at once. And now 'ta-da' they released a powerup skin for the newest iPhone...

Cool.

Now I can justify getting a new phone, right?
