The Deathly Snores

Nook eBook readerOff to see Harry's new 'Hallows'?

Better bring a book, or a Nook.
Because the film is too long.

But you'd never guess that from those breathless promos, like the one below:

Best Harry Potter film yet!*
*If you ignore all the others.

Thrilling*
*Except for that big lag in the middle

Awesome!*
*Except for the cheap location shots

Action!*
Sure, except again for that big lag

Epic!*
*Maybe when the other half comes out?

The movie-goers that I feel sorry for are the old folks.

You know, the ones who've never seen a Harry Potter movie, and decide to take the grandkids to this one. After 2 and 1/2 hours (plus 7 previews!) their butts will be flat, yet they'll still be confused.

My advice? Get'm to hold off seeing 'Deathly Hallows Part 1' til next July, just before Part 2 comes out.

I know, its impossible for the HP obsessed. But try.

Prince of Persia

Supposed to be opening today...

{2.5 min}
'A video-game adaptation, a Fresh Prince of Gel Hair who runs around the desert w/ a magic dagger' - Amy Biancolli

'If you enjoyed Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, another video game made into a blockbuster, then you'll probably enjoy this' - Colin Newton

'a pinch of metaphysics with your high jinks. You also get walk-up-walls scenes worthy of The Matrix. And cool daggers and Gemma Arterton. What’s not to love?' - Andrew O'Hagan

'2 hours of July 4th fireworks w/ flying swords, sandstorms, raging battles and mystical palaces' - Betsy Sharkey

Lastly, the New Yorker's verdict, since I usually agree with their assessments: big budget 'schlock', with over $100 million US spent on authentic costumes, sets and props.
Hm.

But sometimes you're in the mood for popcorn schlock.

Will be going sometime next week... ;-)

Elephant Buns

... race human 'hot dogs' to the finish.

3 human eating-champs: a pie guy, a hash guy, and a cranberry sauce(?) gal went all out ('all in?') in a hotdog bun contest.
They were smoked by 3 pack-it-in-derms. { article}

The elephants ate 505 hot dog buns in 6 min
The humans? Only 143 buns. Slackers.

''...elephants Bunny, Susie and Minnie - all in their 40s - ate at what appeared to be a leisurely pace from behind a table piled high with buns. They even paused to eat some bananas... 'which did not count towards scoring'

What really made me LOL? These are the same chowhound elephants that went on the lam in Toronto in search of snacks. Bunny & Susie's previous eating excursion took them to a grassy area and someone's front yard, leaving a trail of poo that was probably easy to follow... When the handlers were asked how to corral the escaped beasts?... they simply said 'Call them'. Sure enough, they came when called.

Wish I could get my old dog to do that.

Ask for an all-age comic, like 'Owly'... let retailers know that demand for child comics still exists. Its tough to find learn-to-read comics for kids now that the 'adults'*cough* have taken over the market.

Its A Movie, My Precious

New 'Lord of the Rings' movie... online only.

{3 min}

On Sunday, May 3rd, a new 40 minute 'LotR' movie, made by fans, for other fans, will be released online. I love the look of the trailer - I know I won't be able to resist looking at this mini-movie next week. So I figured I'd share, and see if anyone else is a closet hobbit. ;-)

Link for: the second trailer.

Live Long And Promo

FYI: Even if you don't 'Trek', this site is addictive.

Try Trek Yourself
, it allows you to turn any image into a Star Trek character, and have them (or it) say anything. Click each to see mine in action. Their eyes follow your mouse as they chat - woo.

May I now present 'Spock Betty':(new window)
*click to see it* *You can add 'live' embedded versions on blogs, but beware that they begin to talk as soon as someone opens your page. Thus I used stills - click mine to see. (Cheez-it ad is short)

click to see
My 'VulcAngelina'. *Helpful hint: she's more seamless, and her eyes track better, because I was more careful in the 'center your image' step.

Freud as a Romulan
(quoting Freud, no less)

Tickle Me Elmo 'Captain'.. heh heh..
Saving the best for last?.. You decide.
