Looking Up

Numbers are up for KG.

Not ratings... tho they may be as well, but numbers of Google News mentions. Never before would a (fake) news report of KG's assistant leaving her job make the news. Now its all over the place on any page that has ever mentioned KG. And it makes me wonder if that original story was a plant, because it appears to have started on Perez Hilton's site and I'm guessing he'd be game for that sort of attention ploy.

*The last time I checked, the news links to a google query for "Kathy Griffin Jessica" was over 60 links, click below to see what the count is now:

Slightly Spoiled

*Yes, I modified the photo to fit... my view of the show

Let us recap the S6 spoilers so far:

Kit will have that Prison Break guy swooning in drag.
Molly, Phyllis, and Jodi will appear in two eps each.
Eliz Berkley (boo!) and Alex Hedison (yeah!) will appear.
Papi returns from limbo, Lenore (Alice's Mom) does not.

Plus an 'online spin-off' starring an unknown cast mem?
Color me underwhelmed...

Don't Cry Out Loud

Unless, of course, you're on a Japanese Game Show.
This past week they dressed the contestants up like giant babies.
Which is quite appropo if you've seen this bunch of 'winners'...
Here's an Ep1 50 sec clip - until I can find the 'baby' one it'll do:

KG Unplugged

Leno and KG; she's apparently 'unbanned'...

Link to Kathy Griffin on Jay Leno 7/10/08:
Steve Woz took KG to Bob's Big Boy in Burbank! plus other random tidbits about 'The Hills', Oprah, hoarding, and her show & new CD. *link opens to a new page that has the clip in two short parts.

Beach'n in Bora

KG beaches to Sam in Bora Bora

Sometime during her jaunt to Australia, KG took a sidetrip to Bora Bora - where she did this video interview: No Beached Wails * (That's just my title for it, just because she seemed unusually happy and relaxed. Was that because somebody else was paying for it? ;-)

* This 8-min clip is part 1. Hopefully Sam will upload more later.

Stuck Up

'You look funny stuck on a wall'...
then again, so does everyone. Evidence above is from tonight's episode of 'I Survived A Japanese Game Show'. You bounce onto a wall trying to match the shapes, while wearing a velcro suit. The outlines started out simple, and got more complicated by round 3. Too bad Darcy flunked out - I was so hoping they'd both do well so we'd get to see the 'advanced' round cutouts... maybe next game.

Hola! Papi?

Roving Papi returns - heart, keys, & churro in hand ;-)

*SPOILER!* Papi part deux; JG is back for Ep 601.
"...only saw the outside filming. Papi is on the 2nd floor balcony, looking down at Tasha and Alice. Alice says something like 'where have you been?' And Papi replies, 'right here'. Tasha says, "keys" and Papi throws them down to her. Alice asks if 'she can come in too'and Papi shrugs and says 'ok'..."
Now, isn't that interesting - Papi disappears for an entire season and returns just like that? So what dramatic reason brings Tasha back to see her 'best friend' finally - any guesses?

*For you folks pining for a S6 wedding, cheer up - JG might be returning for two purposes; rem she's also a limo driver...

Thanks for posting the tidbit, braindrain!

Kathy Has A Big Moi

Bits from Kathy G.'s latest interview:

re her CD "For Your Consideration":
"I thought, 'What's the most pathetic thing that no celebrity would do?' " she says. "I can't even get tickets to the Grammys. So I could either start going out with Clive Davis or I could do a CD expressly for getting nominated..."

re her celebrity targets: "I am jealous of some, repulsed by some, bitter about some and genuinely trying to be funny about all of them," she says.

re Miley Cyrus: "To me, she was a little bit off-limits because she was so young. Now, forget it. She's putting pictures of herself on the Internet where she's chewing her own T-shirt, lifting it up and showing one of the Jonas Brothers - self-proclaimed Christian virgins - her lace panties?
Enough is enough. I'm only human."

re her show: "I want people to look at my life and say, 'Stuff happens on that show that doesn't happen on any other show,' " Griffin says. "You know how people always go on their deathbeds, 'I wish I spent more time with my family and kids'? Not me. I'm going to be on my deathbed going, 'I wish I spent less time with my family.' (orig. interview is here)

I was looking for that link where she confesses that she bought a cheap faux diamond engagement ring to wear when she was out with billionaire Woz; did any of the A-list photogs/gossipers take notice at the time?...
Don't recall seeing it, but I confess I'm a season-onlylazyfair-weatherfan.

Do the I Do

In this ep. KG conducted a legal wedding?!
She's ordained by 'Church of Universal Good Life'?!
Turns out this ministering group has been around for a while, and she's not the only 'notable' - take a look at a few of the 20 million ordained since 1959:
Milton Berle, Actor
Mel Blanc, Voice Actor
Ray Bolger, Actor, Wizard of Oz
Richard Branson, Founder of Virgin
Johnny Carson, TV personality
Cyd Charisse, Singer
Tony Danza, actor
Sammy Davis, Jr. Entertainer
Doris Day, Actress
Kathy Griffin, comedian
Goldie Hawn, Actress
Jesse G. James, custom cycle maker
Carson Kressley, Queer Eye
Courtney Love, Musician
Alanis Morissette, Singer
Jeff Probst, TV host
Debbie Reynolds, Actress
Rosalind Russell, Actress
-all- of The Beatles (!)
Jimmy Stewart, Actor
Sharon Stone, Actress
Wait, what? The Tinman of OZ, and the King and Queen of Virgins? (Bolger, Branson & DDay) Why did they all join? (From wiki's list of ULC folks) Plus it turns out a friend who officiated at his son's wedding was actually 'ordained' this way too. (Hmm, any tax benefit from being a ULC minister?) At any rate, ULC makes money selling 'Civil Union' kits to their new ministers, only $89.

ABCtv is doing an open casting call for 'WipeOut':

Seeking:
* Men & women over 18 years of age
* legal residents of the U.S.
* Must be able to swim.
* Must currently live in California.
* Fun, strong-willed, outgoing, great sense of humor.

Email us now at: wipeoutcasting@gmail.com
Must include your name, address, occupation, contact phone numbers, email addresses, a recent photograph, and a summary of why you're the perfect candidate.'' (via ABC's casting page)
-----------

Love that *You don't need to be an athlete* bit, especially when its clear when you watch the show that only the fit, and tall, will survive. (The average man is 5'' taller than the average woman - yet both must jump the same height? That's so rigged against women.)

It appears that the writers, producer, and two useless hosts
(that bozo duet must be related to the producer to have gotten this gig) are steering this show more toward humiliation than toward genuine fun. Too bad.
