Frogs Back In Fashion

With frog fans putting on quite a show...

Or, for the less artistic... go to the Japanese Consulate in Miami and they'll show you how to make an origami frog... but only on the first Monday of each month.

Or you could just watch this:

Making an origami frog, one-handed.

Isn't summer fun?

Cooling Off Hot Bods

I needed some ideas for tomorrow, so I found this list (via 'CheapHealthyGood'- click image) recommending these light drinks for summer.

Bellini
Mimosa
Light Beer (12 oz)
Scotch, vodka, gin, or bourbon
Red, white, or sparkling wine
Bloody Mary
Rum and Diet Coke
Tom Collins
Sloe Gin Fizz
Vodka Martini
Guinness (12 oz)

Hey, sounds good to me... so I'm off to T Joe's to get those frozen peaches that I'll use to make Bellinis tomorrow.

*don't worry, I'll also get beer for the guys.

Have a great 4th!

Having La Fête

Lets talk of Montreal today...
to celebrate the National Holiday of Quebec.

Getting Swept Away

The guilty pleasure show is back...

Yes, its a tacky, tacky, show.

A trainwreck you can't turn away from.

...I'll get the popcorn.

Save the Earth One Goat Poop At A Time?

Its the White Goat Paper Recycler !

Just feed this White Goat paper and water - its automatic.
After digesting 40 sheets, out poops one roll of toilet paper.

See it in action:

Its so unique - you can see why it won awards.

But... it only makes two rolls per hour.

Not to mention it costs $100,000 US !

Hm.

Perhaps we should try a real white goat* instead?...
Its output is recycled on dirt; no electricity required.

*Get two - then we'll automatically get more lil' goats!

Every Blog Has Its Price

But try putting a value on it...

Ran into a website where the owner declared that the lowest price he might accept for his domain (milk.com) was $1,000,000 US.
... But he'd prefer $10 mil, thanks.

Hm

So I plugged his domain name into a web-value site.
And SEOheap says his milk.com is worth $15,746

That sounds more reasonable....

(btw, YouTube.com's value: $57,701,815 !)

So of course I had to value this blog and my
NancTWoP.blogspot.com is worth: $2,528 !

Ha. Not bad for a hobby.

Until I plugged in the name of my pal G1's blog.

And now I feel cheap and shoddy...
because they said that her blog
Girl1nterrupted is worth $301,638 !

*Hey, G1, love your blog but I demand a recount! ;-)

All this seems a bit fishy to you?...

Go try yours: Get your site value

And report back here, if you dare. ;-)

Prince of Persia

Supposed to be opening today...

'A video-game adaptation, a Fresh Prince of Gel Hair who runs around the desert w/ a magic dagger' - Amy Biancolli

'If you enjoyed Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, another video game made into a blockbuster, then you'll probably enjoy this' - Colin Newton

'a pinch of metaphysics with your high jinks. You also get walk-up-walls scenes worthy of The Matrix. And cool daggers and Gemma Arterton. What’s not to love?' - Andrew O'Hagan

'2 hours of July 4th fireworks w/ flying swords, sandstorms, raging battles and mystical palaces' - Betsy Sharkey

Lastly, the New Yorker's verdict, since I usually agree with their assessments: big budget 'schlock', with over $100 million US spent on authentic costumes, sets and props.
Hm.

But sometimes you're in the mood for popcorn schlock.

Will be going sometime next week... ;-)

A Wrinkle In Music

ThemeT asked, so here's a Wrinkle... but its a short song by the low-flying band named Dufus. (Don't know how else to describe them, since this quirky bunch has toured globally yet they're mostly unknown.)

But I do know I like their video of 'Wrinkle':

'Wrinkle'

Time makes wrinkles form upon your face
Live happily, wrinkles make you prettier
Work too hard it becomes
You start to wear a frown
Permanently making uglier

I prefer to stare into the sun and burn my eyes
with love, my eyes in kindness.
Wrinkling crinkling wisdom of time.

Don't you wonder why they try to make things happen?
Why not sit back and relax?
I know its not as easy as it seems.
It could be easiest.

I prefer to stare into the sun and burn my eyes
with love, my eyes in kindness.
Wrinkling crinkling wisdom of time.

I'm not lazy; I know every minute counts
I am resolved to making people happier
People most people don't seem to think or at
least they don't seem to try
I Am Resolved

Take me with you, I'll go with you.
I'll go with you if you want me to.

I prefer to stare into the sun and burn my eyes
with love, my eyes in kindness.
Wrinkling crinkling wisdom of time.

Love that cake with 131 candles...

Given the nature of their music, will they 'make it big'?

But then again, given the nature of their group, I don't think that bothers them one way or the other. So no wonder they can write a song about getting wrinklier and not worry about that either.

Maybe unwrinkled people end up boring, anyway?
Time will tell, I guess... ;-)

*have extra time today?... Dufus doing their
rock opera: Fun Wearing UnderWear.
Yup, they declare that they wear underwear!

Why Cannibals Eat Readers

Saw a DVD preview of this...

Yes, that's right. They've released Cannibal! The Musical which is a student film directed back in 1996 by (co-creator of South Park) Trey Parker, while studying at U of CO Boulder.

His black comedy is loosely based on the true story of ex-con (yes, its spelled that way) Alferd Packer who was hired to lead 5 miners across the mountains in winter, yet reappeared weeks later well-fed and loaded with cash (& wallets) saying he'd lost track of them {burp} in the snow...

{30 sec} *Trey Parker also plays Alferd Packer

I have no shame;
I added it to my NetFlix queue.

So,
Why do cannibals prefer eating readers to writers?

A.
Because writers cramp but readers digest.

Draft Punk

Remember this iPod ad?

The song was unique, so I looked for the band.
Too bad I mis-read their name as 'Draft Punk'.

Oops.

Didn't re-find - Daft Punk - again for ages.

Not til I saw their distinctly different video,
'Something About Us'. (below)

note: The light show is on their helmets !

Like those people that mis-hear song lyrics, I just added an extra letter to the actual band name. But it made me feel better to find out (via Google) that I wasn't the only one - still over 20,000 hits if you search for 'Draft Punk' - ha!

But I just can't figure out why these two French guys would not only sing in English, but they also, after a bad review where an English critic called their music, "a bunch of daft punk", name their band that. In English.

Just a bit odd.

As odd as their whole LED-helmets thing.
