Puts the Ick in Lick

Tired of good taste & nutrition?...

Its 'Jelly Belly' Pudding

*credit for pic from Mr. C's lol Grossery list - check it out.
click HERE for 'Popcorn' + 'Blueberry'
Inspired to research this after seeing it on Mr. C's site...

'Requires no refrigeration'. Hm. How would pudding made with actual milk & eggs look after months on a shelf?

Some brave souls (av club video) actually ate some:

Taste: Jelly Belly puddings ranged from ridiculously sweet to shockingly horrible. Is it any wonder that most of our Taste Testers had to hold their noses while consuming the popcorn pudding?...

...to make things more exciting, we mixed up a “suicide” of all flavors for IES DaveC. -Guess what?- The suicide actually tasted better than any of the individual flavors. And it was beautiful while mixing, though the final product looked poopy.
Isn't there a quote that goes something like:
'If it looks like poo, & tastes like sh!t, its probably...'

Off The Wall

This is actually the painted wall of a building.
Scale: doors at the bottom are real. (click to enlarge)

This huge wave featuring Queen Lili'uokalani is about to crash to the pavement in Honolulu. It took 2 months to plan, and 6 months to execute.

The 'Trompe l'oeil-ist', John Pugh, loves doing 3-D building murals. He's done quite a few, and you can see 6 more here (Daily Mail), including one where he's painted himself and a cow in front of an 'unfinished' mural.

I Can't Walk Last

Natalie Portman tells all
'' ... with you you a road for running about.''

Lucky Padme cleared that up for us, yes?

But truly, even non-Star Wars fans should check out Jeremy's blog. He posted 80+ screenshots from his (obviously bootleg) Chinese copy where they'd helpfully added their own 'Englsih' subtitles.

Trust me, his page is well worth a look, I only saw that film once, years ago, and I still laughed like a loon.

Hayden C. is equally eloquent.

* many thanks to Jeremy W. for these pics.

See? I promised you a long fun link today.
Please enjoy your Memorial Day as I head to work...

Anarchist Bookfair

*disclaimer: Just in case you found this page because you typed the 'a' word into Google... Sorry, no political depth here. I just liked the look of the poster, so I read their page - totally deep, that's me... politically minded? click here to go there
Nice looking poster, yes?

Who knew Cardiff had anarchists? Not me.

(never knew anarchists organized bookfairs either)

*When I think 'Wales', I see prosaic images, not:

''South Wales Anarchists are a network of autonomous collectives who are against all forms of exploitation and bigotry. We engage in direct action against capitalism and government, spread info-rmation, & build resistance to create a world based on justice & freedom.

Government & capitalism is chaos, pitting person against person, encouraging domination & exploitation to preserve inequality & privilege. Anarchism is order (?), delivering individual liberty & social equality through a system of voluntary cooperation without political, economic or social hierarchies.''
Direct action against capitalism includes selling things? Apparently I have a lot to learn.

Anyone care to run over there and find out if these free-thinkers restrict what kinds of books can be sold?...

Food, Star, or Trek

Yes, I confess. I saw it.
Four of us went, only one a 'Trek' fan.
All liked it, despite the red goo.

Half of a Giraffe

Competitive Taxidermy... who knew?

St. Charles, MO held the Taxidermy World Championship, and among all the deer, fish & birds they had these:

Bambi being fed by a disembodied arm.

Did someone shoot a fawn?

A curiously cheerful shark chasing seals.

How'd they do the water?

But the image that had me say 'why?' was this one,
one half of a giraffe, suspended in midair?

Other half must be upstairs...

It never occured to me that people even hunt them... at 19 feet tall you couldn't brag that it was tough to spot, now could you? Would you put this beast on-tilt in your house?

Kitchen looks industrial. (click above for all pics)
Boring decorations - bland colors. I give it a 'C'.
Not where I'd picture a creative person living.

Interestingly, its has 4 bedrooms, w/5 baths.

High Tidy Heels

imagine a beach full of pointy holes

High Tide Heels, by artist Paul Schietekat

''...they combine the elegance of stiletto heels with the swimming speed of flippers."

''They could provide a fashionable alternative for sun-seekers who don't want the hassle of changing footwear every time they cool off with dip in the sea.''
Imagine Posh Spice strolling sprawling along in these.

Alas, according to the Telegraph, there's 'no thought to be any plans to release them commercially'

GOD's Holy Salami

It was either that or 'God I Love Salami'.

Note: put down drinks before reading.

article: ...a divine message or a meaty coincidence

...she was cooking fried salami when (she) flipped one of them and saw the letter G. "Then got the O and I thought to myself how cool will it be if the third letter was a D."

Simoes realizes people may think she's crazy.

"I can't make this up... it's there in the burn marks."

For 20 years, her family has enjoyed fried salami for breakfast. Now Simoes is wondering how she will preserve the "holy" salami.
20 years? Wonder what other messages she missed?
Think of the words if she'd fry up four at at time...

Barbie's Inner Beauty

Hm. Barbie has no brain, and peglegs?
...I never realized she was a pirate.

'Radiology Art' by a NY med student:
'During my studies I became involved in a research project in Radiology and being an artist at heart, I couldn't help but to think of these scanners and fancy cameras,' says 44-year old Mr Stuelke. 'I realised that the two could be combined and used to reveal a whole new aspect of art.'

Placing his chosen items into a top-of-the-range CT scanner, he maps the insides of normal items such as stuffed toys and model airplanes. Processing the images on his humble home computer on a free software programme called Osirix, he then touches up the pictures using Photoshop.

Seven Colorful Sins

'Map of Sin' via Kansas St U. research
(*and the WRATH map is red, ENVY = green, etc...)

Las Vegas Sun: "By culling statistics from nationwide databanks of things like STD infection rates (lust) or killings per capita (wrath), the researchers (KSU geography dept) came up with a sin index... a precision party trick — rigorous mapping of ridiculous data"

So, what's up with South Dakota, anyway?

Car With Attached Mirage

Look closely - its amazing.
She painted her car to blend into the car park.

It took Sara Watson 3 weeks to transform her car. An art student at the U. of Central Lancashire (Uclan), she created the illusion in the car park outside her studio there.

"I was experimenting with the whole concept of illusion but needed something a bit more physical to make a real impact."
It certainly worked - I know I'm impressed.

Yes, that's correct. (click to enlarge)
Bidding is over and her throne has been claimed.

Someone paid £82 for Camilla's used potty seat.

Isn't that about $122 in U.S. dollars?

Its A Movie, My Precious

New 'Lord of the Rings' movie... online only.

{3 min}

On Sunday, May 3rd, a new 40 minute 'LotR' movie, made by fans, for other fans, will be released online. I love the look of the trailer - I know I won't be able to resist looking at this mini-movie next week. So I figured I'd share, and see if anyone else is a closet hobbit. ;-)

Snow Hill

Happy May Day

In years past I gave May baskets to my grandma.
(The only way we celebrated May Day)
We never did set up a Maypole; did we miss anything?

click for larger
Andrew Wyeth's 'maypole' painting, "Snow Hill".
Must've been chilly in those hills if it was May 1st.

Its a huge painting, by the way - 6 feet wide by 4 feet tall. I saw it at the Brandywine River Museum. And it really is an in-joke, because all the celebrants are people from his other paintings.
